Throughout time eyes have often been referred to as the “Windows of the Soul”. Similarly, iridologists interpret the eyes as the windows to your health. Iridology is based on the scientific study of the iris (the colored, ring shaped part of the eye). As a holistic technique iridology is used to determine information about one’s overall health by examining the pigmentation, patterns, colors and other characteristics of the iris. A skilled and experienced iridologist can pick up on underlying health problems through abnormalities seen in the iris.
How it works
At Better Living in Toronto (Etobicoke), the iridologist examines the various characteristics in specific areas of the iris that provide information about the client’s overall health as well as the health of the individual organs. The reason this interpretation is possible is due to the connection between the body’s organs and the iris’s many nerve endings, blood vessels, muscles and connective tissues. The iridologist matches your iris to iris charts to help identify the organs in your body that may not be functioning optimally.
Can Iridology help with your health?
Iridology cannot diagnose specific diseases but it can offer indications of systemic strengths and weaknesses. Iridology is also used as a guide in the assistance of addressing health concerns such as pain and inflammation, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), indigestion, constipation, weight loss, fibromyalgia, menopause, fatigue, migraines and many more.
What you can expect at your appointment
The iridologist at Better Living doesn’t just look at your Iris (colorful part of your eye), he also looks at your sclera (the white part of your eye). An iriscope (optical fiber lighting connected to a microscope and digital camera) is used to photograph the eyes and the image is then loaded on to specialized computer software and displayed on the monitor at a large size for interpretation. The iridologist will then make dietary, lifestyle and supplement recommendations based upon the analysis as well as your main concerns.
