Kidney Support & Cleanse
Recommended for:
Renal Cleanse is designed to maintain and promote optimum urinary tract function. It combines herbal diuretics to cleanse the kidneys and bladder, antibacterial agents to control and prevent bladder and urethra infections, and circulatory aids for improving blood flow to the urinary tract and assisting in both nutrient delivery and waste removal. It also incorporates advanced tissue protection by coating the urinary tract to prevent damage to the urethra, kidneys, and bladder.
Princes Pine (Cats Whiskers) 4:1 Extract
(Chimaphila umbellata) Chimaphila has traditionally been used to soothe ailments of the kidneys and bladder. Chimaphila contains chimaphilin, a naphthoquinone that is a urinary antiseptic. Uva Ursi 10% Extract (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) Uva ursi has a long history of medicinal use as an astringent and antibacterial herb to treat urinary tract infections. The astringent effect of uva ursi is from the tannins, while the antibacterial properties are due to aglycone hydroquinone, which is released from arbutin and tannic acid, which inhibits bacterial adhesion to bladder cells. ESCOP approves the use of uva ursi for uncomplicated infections of the lower urinary tract. Black Pepper 95% Extract (Piper nigrum) Piperine, the major component of black pepper, is an alkaloid that increases the absorption of other agents and increases their maximal concentrations in the body. Cranberry Extract 107× (Vaccinium macrocarpon) Cranberries treat urinary tract infections by inhibiting bacterial adhesion to the walls of the urinary tract. The fructose and proanthocyanidins found in cranberries block the lectinmediated adherence of E. coli bacteria to cells, and may play a key role in the prevention of infections. In a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover trial, cranberry supplementation protected epithelial cells of the bladder from adhesion by different E. coli strains in a dose-dependent adherence effect.
Corn Silk Extract 4:1 (Zea mays)
Corn silk is a mild diuretic and demulcent, and is used to soothe uric acid bladder irritation. Ginger Roots Extract 5% (Zingiber officinale) Ginger is used for kidney diseases, as a stimulant for urination, and to increase blood circulation and decrease inflammation. Ginger has been found to have bactericidal activity against H. pylori, Bacillus subtilus, and E. coli.
Asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) Asparagus is known for its use in inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract and for the prevention of kidney stones. Asparagus root has traditionally been used as a diuretic and laxative. Birch Leaf (Betula pendula) Birch leaves are diuretic and have been traditionally used to increase urine flow to treat cystitis. The flavonoids contained in the leaves are the constituents responsible for cleansing the urinary tract of bacterial and inflammatory ailments, and for flushing small kidney stones. Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) Goldenrod is an herb used for inflammatory diseases of the lower urinary tract, urinary calculi, and kidney gravel, and has been approved by the Commission E. Animal studies have found that the flavonoids and leiocarposide in goldenrod, following oral administration, have significant diuretic effects and inhibition of implanted human urinary calculi growth in the rat bladder.
Buchu Leaf (Agathosma betulina)
Buchu is a urinary-tract disinfectant in cystitis, urethritis, prostatitis, acute cystitis and kidney infections. The flavonoids diosmin and hesperidin are the major active constituents of the buchu leaf. Juniper Berry (Juniperi fructus) Health Canada states that the fruit of the juniper is traditionally used as a diuretic and urinary tract antiseptic. The diuretic effect is primarily due to terpinen-4-ol, a volatile oil. In vitro studies have found that juniper berry exhibits antifungal properties and antiviral activity against the herpes simplex virus.
Althaea (Althaea officinalis)
Althaea root contains mucilage polysaccharides that soothe the urinary tract, rendering it useful in inflammation or irritation of the urinary organs; it alleviates local irritation, inhibits mucociliary activity, and stimulates phagocytosis.
Cayenne (Capsicum annuum)
Cayenne is a vasostimulant, a property expressed by its most important active ingredient, capsaicin, as well as an antimicrobial. Cayenne is thought to enhance the activity of other herbs.
Parsley (Petroselinum crispum)
Parsley contains apiole and myristicin, two volatile oils that exert diuretic effect. This promotes elimination of bacteria or other microorganisms present in the urine, helping prevent urinary tract infections.
